Hi Everyone......The Barrel Bands for the QB-78 are back from Black Oxide and look great. I had to buy my own QB to use just for fitting the rings. The bores in the rings are only .003 of an inch bigger than the barrel and tube. The Idea behind this design is to clamp the ring to the tube, and let the barrel float. We tried several models with set screws over the barrel, and with only .003 tolerance between the barrel and the bore, the set screw isn't needed.
The best groups were obtained by leaving the set screw loose, so it wasn't included in the final design. If you clamp the barrel and the tube together, as the pressure and temperature changes, the point of Impact is all over the place. That is why we chose this design.
The Tube and Barrel are not being restrained so as they expand and contract at different rates, they don't push and pull against each other. It Improves Shot to Shot Consistency greatly based on our tests. Marvin Reynolds has put alot of time and effort in helping me come up with a design that looks great and Improves Consistency. They fit right down into the factory stock and shouldn't need any fitting. The bottom thickness of the ring is the same as the factory ring (.080). This is a much more rigid setup than the plastic band.
The price is $26 dollars shipped for one, two shipped is $46 and Includes (2) Set Screws for Tube Attachment, and Allen Wrench......Try It..I think you will be pleased with your results.......Robert
